The governing board of Foxyards Primary School are working in partnership with the school leadership team to ensure rapid improvement is achieved following our recent Ofsted Report. 

The officers are elected annually from within the Governing Body. Parent governors, teacher governors and co-opted governors are elected to serve for a period of 4 years. They may however resign; in which case an election will be held to fill vacancies.

Current Officers and Roles

Mrs Sarah Dickens (Vice-Chair)

Mrs Sarah Dickens: SEND Co-coordinator – Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy

Term of Office: 7 March 2018 –6 March 2022

Sarah is a SENCo at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy – graded Ofsted good in 2018

Sarah has been a member of the governing body for 5 years starting off as a parent governor. She has led within the governing body SEND supporting school implement strategies to enable SEND children to succeed. Sarah has also taken responsibility for Performance Management. In the absence of a chair of governors Sarah will take up the role of Pupil Premium lead governor.

Key Areas: Leadership & Management, Finance, Achievement of Pupil Groups including SEND and Pupil Premium. 

Mrs Beccy Newell

Mrs Beccy Newell: Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer

Term of Office: 13 December 2017 –12 December 2021

Beccy was a  Business Nursery Manager and now works as project lead assessor for Creative Theraputic services where she is the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Beccy was elected by the parents of Foxyards Primary School as a parent governor. She has led within the governing body Safeuarding and child protection ensuring school meets all strategy expectations.

Mr Barry Warren: Inspire Ministry 

Term of Office: 6 July 2017 – 5th July 2021

Barry has lead ‘Inspire Children’s Ministry’ since April 2017 a Christian organisation based in Dudley offering services to Primary Schools (assemblies, workshops etc). He volunteers weekly to lead social well-being lunchtime clubs an hear readers. He also is our anti-bullying governor ambassador and attends training and regular meetings with our ambassadors.

Mrs Karla Morley: Local Business Owner

Term of Office: 13 December 2017 – 12 December 2021

Karla was elected by the parents of Foxyards Primary School as a parent governor. She has led within the governing body literacy and phonics  ensuring leaders are challenge and accountable for ALL pupils progress. Karla is very passionate that the ‘voice of the child’ is heard within the governing body. Owning her own business in the local community also ensures parents and the communities opinions are shared with the governing body.

Ms Laura Gillett: 

Term of Office: 22 November 2018 – 21 November 2022

Laura was elected by the parents of Foxyards Primary School as a parent governor very recently and has currently attended 1 governors meeting. She will start leading the governing body in the expenditure and impact of the  sports premium.

Mrs Tracy Small: Attendance and School Office Assistance

Term of Office: 13 November 2016 – 12 November 2020

Since being elected as Parent Governor Tracy is now employed by school on a part time basis. She is responsible for schools Attendance and School fund account. She had responsibility for Performance Management.

Key Areas: Health and Safety 

Mrs Donna Davies: Business Manager

Term of Office: 3 February 2016 – 1 February 2020

Donna has extensive experience in business management of a Primary School.
