On Saturday 24th June a Viking re-enactment group set up camp at Foxyards. They created a Viking village on the fields with many period tents, each one reflecting a particular Viking skill or tradition such as:- weaving, cooking, metal work, jewellery, clothing.

The Viking era is one of the study areas of the National Curriculum. It would be wonderful to enhance this experience by taking the children on a visit. Unfortunately, the only worthwhile educational Viking experience is located in York which is too far to travel. So staff and children came up with the idea to build their own Viking village within the school grounds.
